NASCAR announced that there will be a competition caution to check tire wear. The weather at race time was breezy with the threat of rain.
Ted would go to the lead on the first lap and he would stay there until Caution #1 comes on lap 10 as Timothy Peters #4 hits the wall. Ted does not pit.
Restart on lap 12 and Ted takes off from the field. It wouldn't be long before Caution #2 flies as #40 Chad Chaffin's truck was smoking on lap 16.
Restart on lap 21 with Ted still at the point. On lap 29 #30 Todd Bodine takes the lead from Ted. Caution #3 would come as #02 Kelly Sutton hits the wall. Ted still does not pit and the race would restart on lap 36 with him still in 2nd.
Just after the restart Ted would report his truck is running hot and he would drop to 3rd. Four laps later and he regains 2nd place.
Caution #4 comes for the competition yellow. Ted pits now and comes out in 16th place. On the restart #1 Robert Richardson hits the wall. There would be five laps of caution and the race restarts on lap 55.
Three laps later and Ted is 14th. Just a few more laps later and Caution #5 flies as #5 Mike Skinner blows a tire and takes out three others.
Restart on lap 67 and Ted is 12th. It would take Ted a few laps to get past #18 Bobby Hamilton Jr. After he does Ted picks off a truck a lap until Caution #6 comes out for debris on the track. Ted does not pit.
Restart on lap 93 and Ted is 5th. FIve laps later Ted is 4th!
Caution #7 comes on lap 102 as three trucks collide. Ted pits this time and comes out in 16th again. Another quickie caution comes and Ted restarts this time in 13th.
With 39 laps to go Ted is 11th and moving up through the field. With 36 to go Ted is now 8th!
Another caution and Ted restarts this time in 7th with 30 laps to go.
Just two laps later and Ted is now 5th!
25 to go and Ted is 4th!
23 to go and Ted is 3rd!!
Another caution!
The race would restart with just 15 to go.
14 to go and Ted is 2nd!!!
Yet another caution!!!
The race restarts with 3 to go. With Todd at the point and Ted right behind him the race would end under a yellow flag on the final lap.
For the 2nd race in a row Ted finishes 2nd!
A great start to the year as Ted is only 12 points behind Todd.
Way too many caution in this one!
