- Charlotte has been a good track for Ted.
- He has a Win a 3rd and a 4th.
- In the first practice he would be 13th quick.
- He would find some speed and be the quickest truck in final practice.
- 2nd out to qualify Ted would find a lot of speedy dry on the track.
- With the track being a little slick he would qualify 29th for the race.
- The green flag flew at 9:21 est!
- Two laps in and Ted is 25th.
- Just a few laps later and Ted is 28th.
- Caution #1 as #03 Justin Hobgood (Ted's teammate) spins then gets hit.
- It is reported that Ted did pit for adjustments.
- Restart with 124 to go and Ted is 33rd.
- There is a lot of side by side racing.
- A few laps after the restart and Ted is 30th.
- A couple of laps after that and Ted is 27th.
- 28 laps in and and Ted is 24th and 19 seconds back.
- 33 laps in and he is 23rd.
- Caution #2 as #60 Jack Sprague blows a right front tire and hits the wall hard!
- Ted does pit and comes out 3rd and will restart in 3rd.
- Restart on lap 45.
- Ted would fall to 4th and then pass Todd Bodine to get back to 3rd.
- Caution #3 as #71 spins.
- Restart with 83 to go.
- Hornaday and Ted pass Skinner on the restart, Ted is now 2nd.
- The two tire pit stop is paying off.
- 75 to go and Ted is still 2nd and on the leaders tail.
- Ted drops to 4th suddenly!
- 65 to go and Ted is now 5th.
- Possibly the 2 tire deal is slowing him up. But it did get him up front.
- 61 to go and Ted is still 5th and 7 seconds back.
- 55 to go and Ted is 7th.
- 48 to go and Ted is still 7th and 11 sesonds back.
- Caution #4 as #75 Dennis Setzer spins.
- All should pit and make it the rest of the way.
- Restart with 42 to go and Ted is 15th.
- 39 to go and Ted is 14th.
- 36 to go and Ted is 13th and 4 seconds back.
- Ted is in some heavy traffic and side by side racing right ahead of him.
- Caution #5 as the #09 and #99 get together on the backstretch.
- Restart with 32 to go and Ted is 11th
- 30 to go and Ted is still 11th and ahead of the side by side racing.
- 20 to go and Ted is 10th.
- Caution #6 as #23 Johnny Benson blows a right front tire.
- Restart with 6 to go and Ted is 9th.
- Single file restart.
- On the restart Ted moves to 8th.
- A lap later he is 7th.
- Another lap and he moves to 6th!
- Caution #7 as #99 wrecks himself.
- Going to be a green-white-checkered finish with Ted in 6th.
- On the restart Ted goes to the high side of #88 Crafton.
- It took till turn 4 to complete the pass for 5th place.
- Then Ted went after #21 Mark Martin.
- There wasn't enough time to pass anymore drivers.
- Ted made the most of what he had today.
- His crew got him to the front with pit strategy and Ted worked his way to another top-5 finish at Charlotte.
- Ted is now 5th in points and just -170 points back of the leader Mike Skinner.
- Ted said after the race that he was in 9th place and that wasn't him so he made some "desperate" moves to get himself a top-5. He credited his crew for making adjustments to his truck allowing him to run the high line through turn four where he made the majority of his passes.
- On to Mansfield!
