Sam's Town 400
	Sam's Town 400 Texas Motor Speedway June 6, 2008 Ted and his crew are in Texas this week for a Friday night race. This will be Ted's 15th race at the Texas track. A good track for Ted as he has finishes of ( 1-2-3-5-6-6-7-9-10-11-13-14-14-14 ). Ted has won a pole here and he won the fall race last year. Ted was 2nd quick in the first practice. Then in the final practice he was 19th quick. Quote from DV about the days events so far: "We were great in first practice. Finished 2nd. We were 6th in 2nd practice until everyone made mock Q runs. We went on ours and the engine lost power on the backstretch. Ted thought it had blown but TRD found a problem in one of the spark plugs. Hopefully that will fix the problem. It is 95 with winds of 50 MPH. We will decide after qualifying what to do with engine." Ted would go on to qualify 14th for the race. We here during the prerace that #9 Justin Marks has Ted's winning truck from last year. I will update during the commercials for those without SpeedTv tonight. Green Flag at 9:20. Lap 3 and Ted is up to 10th. #33 Hornaday takes the lead as we are forced to watch #51 at the tail of the field. Lap 10 and Ted is still 10th. Lap 20 and Ted is now 9th. They should rename this race "The Kyle Busch Show!" Speed has to show passes in the top-5 on replay because Kyle is in the race. Lap 24 and Ted is up to 8th. Caution #1 for debris on lap 34 and Ted is 8th. Ted had a lengthy pit stop. Restart on lap 38 and Ted is 13th. Lap 40 and Ted is 14th. Lap 45 and Ted is still 14th. Lap 55 and Ted is still 14th. Lap 57 and Ted gains a spot and is now 13th. Caution #2 for a spin. Ted does pit and again a lengthy pit stop? Looked like Ted will restart in the 20's. Possible that trucks took 2 tires but they didn't get back from commercial in time for me to tell. Restart on lap 66 and Ted is ??? Lap 68 and Ted is 19th. Lap 69 and Ted himself goes low to make it 4-wide and completes the pass. Ted then drives right away from them. Lap 70 and Ted is 13th. Ted is running one of the fastest speeds right now. Lap 76 and Ted is behind 3 trucks racing hard right now and still in 13th. BTW #2 Sprague and #33 Hornaday have been up front the whole time. Lap 84 and Ted is 13th still. Caution #3 as #4 Compton blows up. Ted pits with the leaders. Some just take fuel this time for sure. Restart on lap 92 of 167 and Ted is 16th. 25 trucks on the lead lap on lap 97. Lap 100 and Ted is still 16th. Lap 108 and Ted is up to 12th. They were on commercial break so I am not sure how he passed 4 trucks in 8 laps. Lap 111 and Ted is now 11th and 12 seconds back. Caution #4 as #6 Braun gets loose and then blows a tire. All pit and are in the window to go the rest of the way. Coming out of the pits Kyle Busch guns it out of his pit and right in front of Ted. Ted hits the brakes and loses a position because of it. Restart on lap 119 and Ted is 13th. Caution #4 as #08 White blows a tire. This is a very long caution! Restart on lap 127 and Ted is 11th. Caution #5 as both #22 Speed and #14 Crawford have issues. Turns out Speed brushes against Crawford and Speed spins and Crawford cuts a tire. Restart on lap 138 and Ted is 9th. lap 140 and Ted is 7th. Lap 148 and Ted blows his motor! Ted and his Team ASE/Harris Trucking Toyota were on track for a top-5 until his motor went. Speed didn't talk about Ted all race and just after the say he is having a good race he blows up. Man Ted can't catch a break. With Crawford having issues he was going to gain points and a couple of spots. BTW Caution #6 is out. Restart with 11 to go and Ted is 28th and out of the race. Caution with 2 to go will set up a green-white-checkered finish. Hornady is first and the black truck is second. The drama was there to be had but none to be seen. Hornaday holds off the black truck. Kyle after the race was very unappreciative of the truck he had. The last I will say about Kyle is that he needs to be more respectful of other people. Back to Ted... Ted ends up finishing 28th. This is a tie for his worst finish of the year. He has work ahead of him but both he and the entire crew are set to make a strong run for a top-5 in the points this year. Michigan owes Ted a win and I think it is a great place to start a string of top-5's. We will be at Michigan and Milwaukee and I will update best I can.
