At the start of the race Ted would begin a slow slide backwards. On lap 10 he was 12th. Lap 30 found him in 13th. Then on lap 42 Jack Sprague leading at the time hits the wall to bring out a caution. Everyone pits and Ted comes out 12th.
The race would resume on lap 50 and shortly after Boris Said causes caution 2 and takes out a slew of drivers. One of which was Bobby Hamilton. Nascar would throw a red flag to clean up the track.
The race resumes on lap 58 with Ted in 12th. Robert Huffman would cause a caution on lap 59 and the race would restart on lap 65. Then Tracy Hines causes a caution. This time Ted pits with the others in the back of the pack.
On the restart on lap 69 Ted is in 22nd. Now he would start his climb to the front and on lap 75 he is in 16th place. Yet another caution and the race would restart on lap 86. Ted is now 14th with 57 laps to go.
With 47 laps to go another caution brings the field in for the final pit stops. Ted would restart in 8th place with 42 to go. Two laps later Ted is in 7th. He would stay there till Terry Cook the leader at the time hits the wall and brings out the 7th and final caution.
Ted would gain 2 more spots and finish the race in 5th place. Dennis Setzer won the race so Ted would actually lose ground in the points. However he is now in 2nd place just 88 points back.
On to Memphis for the July 23rd night race. It is a 3/4 mile track where Ted has had some success. He has a win along with two 3rd place finishes and a 6th. Go Ted!
