Race 20 on the schedule found the Mopar team at Las Vegas for yet another night race. All the teams that showed up would race as there were only 36 that made the trip. Ted would be 14th quick in the first practice session and then 5th quick in final practice. Ted would then qualify the Mopar Dodge 5th for the race with his teammate Jimmy Spencer right beside him in 6th. Once again Toyota got not only the pole but the next 3 spots as well during qualifying.

On the start of the race Ted would go to the bottom to make his move and take the fourth spot. However... Caution #1 would come out as #13-Hines has a flat tire. He then collects #77-Gaughan and #12-Miller.

After the red flag the trucks would restart on lap 5 and Ted would make his move.... 3rd on lap 6.........2nd on lap 7! It would take Ted awhile to catch the leader and when he did #22-Lester let Ted lead on lap 23 for 5 bonus points. While letting Ted lead Lester lost his momentum and #30-Bodine passed him and then Ted to claim the lead.

Continuing the green flag laps Ted would fall back to 4th on lap 47. Two laps later #46-Setzer goes a lap down in 20th place. Then the green flag pit-stops started. Ted would come in on lap 50 for tires-fuel-adjustments. When the trucks cycled through Ted is in 2nd just 3 seconds behind Bodine.

Caution #2 would fly on lap 65 as #60-Chaffin and #02-Sutton spin on the track. Ted would pit again for tires-fuel-adjustments. The truck would stall leaving the pit and Ted would lose a spot to #75-Starr and restart in 5th spot on lap 72.

On lap 74 Ted moves up to 4th. By lap 80 Ted would be in 2nd place again just 3 seconds behind Bodine. Then on lap 87 Ted would go to the lead. We would hear that the adjustments made to the truck are working and on the next pit stop they would free it up a little bit more.

The leaders were once again coming up to lap Setzer for the 2nd time and guess what happened???????? Yuppers. Kelly Sutton turns sharply left into the grass. Probably to avoid a possum or something. It would create Caution #3 on lap 110.

Ted would make his final pit stop and come out 3rd from the pits. However, he would start 6th because 3 trucks stayed out. Ted would make his way to the front on the restart and with 31 laps to go he is now in 3rd place once again. Just one lap later he moves up to 2nd!

Caution #4 comes out as Lester gets a flat tire and says hello to the wall with 24 laps to go. After a long caution the race would restart with 13 laps to go.

On the restart Ted and Todd would take off from the rest of the field and have it out for the lead. Ted would try and try to get by him low and with just three laps to go Todd wiggles and Ted passes him for the lead!

But guess what????? Yup Caution #5 comes out as #62-Park done blowed up and wrecks!

Green-White-Checkered and Ted starts at the front of the pack. By the exit of turn 2 Ted would fall to 2nd. The race would finish with Ted in second. After the race we would hear from Ted that his truck wasn't very good on restarts and that he felt like a sitting duck with Bodine right behind him.

Ted is now 5 points behind Setzer for the points lead.
Toyota wins again, making 6 on the year.
-Not counting the times Skinner should of won.
-Makes you wonder why they don't take away from them?
Sutton once again wrecks, Setzer is saved again!

On to Martinsville on October 22nd. One month away from the last race. Seems a bit too long for me. Ted's finishes there after the first two races are good......
