(2 - 12 - 2010)
- After a year away from the track, Ted returns to racing at Daytona.
- Ted will drive the Billy Ballew #15 Toyota Tundra with "Hope for Haiti" on the hood.
“How much more can you ask for actually,” Ted Musgrave said. “Billy Ballew’s Toyota Tundra’s run consistently out front every week and it is a dream opportunity to step back into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the top equipment in the garage. I’ve really missed driving last year but kept myself in the loop by being at the track and racing is like riding a bicycle you never really forget how to do it.”
- Early in the first practice Ted was 5th quick with a speed of 178.257.
- A piece of debris hit Ted's tailpipe and he needed to come in for repairs.
- Back on the track and in the draft Ted is still 5th quick but now a top speed of 183.850.
- When the first practice was over Ted had a top speed of 184.722 which was 8th quick.
- Ted's truck is all black with a red spoiler and running boards.
- Final practice and qualifying tommorow.
-
- Early in the final practice ted was racing in a pack and was 5th quick with a speed of 181.917.
- The truck seems to go where ever Ted wants it to.
- Later in the practice we see Ted leading a pack of 4 trucks but no improvement to his top speed.
- Ted would end up 15th quick in the final practice.
-
- The temp. was in the 30's for qualifying.
- Ted was interviewed before he went out for his 2 laps.
- He said that he "has the truck to do it, so let's see what happens."
- He also said that he will need some "Hope for Teddy" to make it to Atlanta.
- Ted put up a qualifying speed of 174.595 which will start him 18th for the race on friday.
“Typical qualifying here, it’s uneventful. A lot of guys that start upfront are barely hanging on in the race and they kind of falter back. My truck was really good in practice today and yesterday. It was very neutral driving so I’m skeptical how to make it faster in qualifying, but then again in the back of my mind I’m glad I know what I’ve got for the race. It’s pretty good.”
-
- The race was rained out on friday and will be ran on saturday at 7p.m.
-
- The Green flag flies at 7:22 p.m.!!!
- Ted starts on the outside of row nine.
- A big wreck happens going into turn 3 on lap 1 and Ted gets a piece of it.
- We see Ted has a flat right front and some damage to the front bumper.
- The trucks were 3 wide and #3 Austin Dillon got loose in the middle row and hit #13 Johnny Sauter.
- Ted tries to slip by but just manages to clip the #3 and #13 on the way by.
- Restart on lap 9 and Ted is 31st.
- Lap 12 and we see Ted is now listed as 30th and 2 laps down.
- Lap 17 and Ted is 29th.
- Ted is riding just behind the lead pack and appears to have the speed to keep up for now.
- Caution on lap 20 as #49 Bryan Silas stops on the track.
- We can see Ted still has some front end damage to be worked on.
- Restart on lap 25 and Ted is now 27th and 2 laps down.
- We can see Ted working through the back of the pack so the damage must not be too bad.
- Lap 32 and another big wreck!
- Ted once again is a part of it!
- #33 Ron Hornaday hits the wall and a lot of trucks get wrecked.
- There was a lot of tire smoke and it is not clear what happened to Ted but the damage looks bad.
- Ted is off the track and being interviewed.
- Ted says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time both times tonight and that he was pushed into the last wreck. He also says he still needs sponsorship to make it to Atlanta and the Hope for Haiti truck may be done for the night.
- Restart on lap 40 and Ted is listed as 28th and off the track.
- Lap 50 and Ted is now 30th and listed as out of the race.
- The race ends after a few more wrecks and Ted finishes 31st.
-
- The night started with such promise for both Ted and Billy Bellew Motorsports.
- It quickly went south and then got worse.
- First, Ted got caught up in a wreck on lap one.
- The crew then fixed the damage and Ted actually recorded the fastest truck speed for 2 laps.
- Then both Billy Bellew trucks got caught up in the second wreck and Ted's day was ended.
- Ted had a great truck before the first wreck and a very good one after.
- It was the second wreck that ruined Ted's debut in the #15.
- We need a "Hope for Teddy" to get a sponsor for Atlanta and beyond.
- With Ted at the wheel of a Billy Bellew Motorsports truck, the #15 has a chance to win every race.
- Google...E-trade...Wal-Mart...7-11...Papa Johns...Pep Boys...Cisco...Pella...Nike...Capital One...Men's Wearhouse...Applebee's...Paychex...Costco...Progressive Insurance...I don't know, any of these companies would benefit from the combination of Ted Musgrave and a Billy Bellew Motorsports truck.
- Atlanta is just 3 weeks away and I know we all would like to see the Ted and the #15 truck there.
- Let's all think positive and hope a sponsor will step in and save the season.
